Revision of NPWS Plans of Management for
Blue Mountains, Kanangra-Boyd and Wollemi National Parks

National Parks Wildlife Service (NPWS) is currently revising Plans of Management for Blue Mountains, Kanangra-Boyd and Wollemi National Parks. As a registered stakeholder, ORIC has been invited to provide comment and input into these Draft revision of Plans.

Plans of Management are legal documents created under the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974. The plans underpin day-to-day management of national parks and reserves as they guide park managers on how to deal with issues such as fire, pest animals, weeds, threatened species, Aboriginal and historic heritage, recreation and education. Blue Mountains, Kanangra-Boyd and Wollemi National Parks already have plans of management in place and these can be viewed at http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au.

New plans have been drafted in response to changes in factors affecting how these reserves are managed, and in light of the fact NPWS has completed many of the works identified in the existing plans, so new goals for the future are needed.

As the first step in re-drafting the existing plans NPWS wants to know what the reserves mean to you, what is their significance and what key values you think the parks have, and have made a start at putting some of these thoughts together in Draft Discussion Papers.

You are invited to provide written comments on these papers. This may be done directly to NPWS, or through ORIC, who will be providing feedback on the two drafts. Below are several links to download information and methods of providing feedback.
